My boyfriend and I recently got a yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) and we absolutely love, Love, LOVE her. There are all these books out there that prepare you for having a yorkie, but some things people don’t say in books…. for example:
1. You need to trim their butt hair every 1-2 months
Hilarious I know, but Kili (our puppy) as her hair has been growing, her butt hair has been growing also. When that happens, poop gets stuck to her butt and she can’t poop… and it is DISGUSTING! So if you don’t want to get them trimmed every month, usually you can go and get their butt hair trimmed for $6 at somewhere like Petco.
2. Training Classes are WORTH IT.
I wouldn’t have thought that training classes would be worth the $200 at Petco, but I can tell you right now that Kili would not know any tricks if it wasn’t for those classes. They get you motivated to teach your puppy and the money is well worth it. I recommend the group classes because most of the time the groups are not even that big, and you end up getting one-on-one training.
3. Be Prepared to Exercise your Yorkie… Daily.
Our puppy is very energetic, and she definitely needs at least a half mile walk every day (even though she does not get that). She loves attention, and needs exercise.
What is your best tip for new Yorkie owners? I would love your input!
I want to compile a list of the top 10 pre-made eye shadow palettes of 2015. Although many people (like me) hate spending a lot of money on makeup, having one of these palettes in your possession (although on the costly side) is definitely worth the investment. Spend a lot on your favorite pick out of these top 10 eye shadow palettes and you won’t waste your money on cheap drugstore eye shadows that you end up hating and throwing away.
Recently getting into modeling and pageantry, I have been searching the forums, boards, and my various Instagram makeup inspirations for the best-most-amazing photogenic foundations. Here is my list of the top 4 foundations gathered from the polls, starting from my favorite to my least favorite!
Makeup Forever HD – This makeup is absolutely amazing. The best for photos, for combination dry skin and medium coverage. If it is set with powder, it looks flawless in photos.
Pageant registration can be filled with nervousness, butterflies, and chaos, but you want to make it look like you are just fine. You want to show the other ladies that you have what it takes to win.
Many girls wonder what to wear to pageant registration, and being in the Miss Utah USA world, here is what some of the girls decided to wear, and what our pageant director suggested would be good.
“Something cute but casual and comfy enough to rehears in! It can be a cute sundress, jeans and a T-shirt, just something cute that you would wear to school but something you can dance in!” – Rylee Kier Coggins
“I usually wear something cute and comfortable since we do rehearsals” – Gentry Katherine
“I’m wearing a red dress and tippy tops. Super simple so I can get changed into my opening number dress for photos. But I also have packed a couple comfy clothes and joggers to rehears in.” – Kori Hardkor Laurel
Those are just a few suggestions that some pageant ladies had for registration outfits, feel free to add your own!
Competing in my first pageant this year, I learned a lot about how to do Miss USA pageant hair, how to do pageant makeup, how to walk on stage, how to model in photo shoots, and more. I did not realize how much time and dedication it takes to master all of this, but like anything, it seems easier looking in from the outside.
Today I want to share with you how to do Miss USA pageant hair. Here are some of the tips and tricks I learned from the extremely talented hairdresser, Chad Seale, who is the hair sponsor for the winner of Miss Utah USA.
Flex-hold hairspray: I like to go to Sally’s and find one of their flex-hold hairsprays, something that will not make your curls crunchy
Heat the curling iron up to about 380 degrees. You do not want to heat it up more than that because it will damage your hair.
Start sectioning off your hair, starting from the top right and working backward, making sure to curl the front of your hair first. Take small sections and work to curl the hair away from your face, then secure it with a clip at your scalp.
Once you have curled a good section of your hair, use your hairspray to secure the curl.
When all your hair is curled and in clips, use your hairspray once more and wait for all the curls to set, until none of them are warm anymore. The longer they set, the better the curl and the longer it will stay.
Start letting out the curls one by one.
Once all the clips are out of your hair, then you can add some volume and rat your hair at the roots.
Flip your hair upside down and spray your hair at the roots for an extra lift.
And there you have it! Great Miss USA hair, ready for a day at the pageant!
Starting this site, my main goal is to learn how to really love myself. To do something that I feel embodies my life, my passions, my goals, and that makes me happy.
I want to inspire others, to lift women up to their full potential, and to help everyone remember that we are all worthy of an enchanted life filled with glitter.
Everyone wants to make a living doing what they love, and this site is the beginning of a long journey of doing what I love, and proving that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and never give up.
I came across this book, a really short read, to learn how to accept myself and love myself. To look myself in the mirror everyday and see who my family sees. Someone full of love and potential. I recommend reading it and implementing some of the tips, it is a great book, and only about $4.99 on Amazon!
Welcome to my beauty, fashion, love, Glitter and Gatsby life. Enjoy.
And here are a list of my favorite quotes from Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It:
The truth is to love yourself with the same intensity you would use to pull yourself up if you were hanging off a cliff with your fingers.
I’d been disgusted with myself – I could love another and wish them well, but what about me? From now on, I would focus only on this thought. For me.
Imagine that. Imagine the feeling of catching yourself loving yourself without trying. It’s like catching a sunset out of the corner of your eye. It will stop you.
If you loved yourself truly and deeply, would you limit your life to what you previously thought possible? Nope. You’d blow your own socks off.
Darkness is the absence of light. If you remember this, it will change your life. Changed mine. It is this concept that the practice is based on. Any negative thought is darkness.
I once heard someone explain thoughts as this: we, as human beings, think that we’re thinking. Not true. Most of the time, we’re remembering. We’re re-living memories. We’re running familiar patters and loops in our head. For happiness, for procrastination, for sadness. Fears, hopes, dreams, desires. We have loops for everything.
If you had a thought once, it has no power over you. Repeat it again and again, especially with emotional intensity, feeling it, and over time, you’re creating the grooves, the mental river. Then it controls you.
